This collection features two Bizen ware vases, each crafted by a noted artist.
The tall, cylindrical vase is by Masamune Chiharu (b. 1944), a potter from Honami known for his incised works and exhibition history.
The round-bodied vase with a flared neck is by Kimura Tōhō, second-generation head of a kiln lineage stemming from the Kimura Sōhonke family.
Both pieces bear the artists' carved signatures and showcase the natural, unglazed textures unique to wood-fired Bizen clay. The natural interaction of flame, ash, and clay results in one-of-a-kind finishes unique to each piece.
A small white stoneware vase from Sweden comes as a gift.
